After discovering a surprise or two during our dives last_week, I looked forward to this weekend with even more anticipation than usual.
Randy spotted a large octopus, relatively exposed and not disturbed by all the attention and camera flashes. But the discovery of the day for me was a peculiar-looking crab which caught my eye as I drifted over some boulders. I don't recall exactly what drew my attention to it, but after processing the pictures, it was evident that this was not one of the ubiquitous rock crabs.
After consulting the resident expert on these matters, I learned that it was a red porcelain crab -- rather rare and presumably difficult to photograph.
The second dive was far less crowded, and we managed to avoid separation. A first sighting today...the sphinx slug, along with the usual cast of characters.
